i saw a photograph of elsa schiaparelli wearing the most bonkers hat shaped like a shoe – it intrigued me so much i started reading about her; she began her fashion label in the 1920’s with a range of knitwear. she was interested in surrealism – hence the shoe! my pixie hat was inspired by elsa after seeing a second image of her wearing a ‘broken’ cone shaped structure on her head – i thought the point was so fab – really cute & i want a change from making pompom beanies.
